Jessica's Story

Chippy

2017 will mark the 5th year that we have been without our dad~ Chippy. Dad passed on January 14th, 2012 from complications to Crohn's & colitis. More specifically, was taken off his meds and slowly began on a spiral to total dehydration. This resulted in an unexpected pulmonary embolism that took his life, at 59 years old. That night will be sketched in my mind for life, the night my dad took his last breath in my arms, while we waited for the ambulance.

Our journey with the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation began in 2014, when we formed our team in our dad's name. Since then, our family has taken the challenge to find a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. WE WALK FOR OUR DAD, CHIPPY. Family and friends donate to the Elwood Moore Foundation, which is an account that we have dedicated to find cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

In memory of our dad, this will be our fourth walk in Maine and we have also participated in other walks across New England, including Western Massachusetts and Boston. Team Chippy enters it's 9th walk in New England on May 20, 2017 and has raised over $11,300! Help us reach our goal today with your donation! Together we can make this happen!

I will be walking in the Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. Take Steps is the Foundation's national walk -  the nation's largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. It is a 3.7 mile walk around the Back Cove in Portland to raise money for crucial research, bringing us closer to a future free from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Over 1.6 million American adults and children are affected by these digestive diseases. While many suffer in silence, Take Steps brings this community together in a fun, energetic, and supportive atmosphere.

Your donation will help support local patient programs, as well as important research projects. This cause is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight for cures! In addition to donating, you can join me at the event. There will be food, music and family activities. The more money we raise, the closer we will be to making life more manageable for patients who live with these diseases every day.

Please join me or donate to my efforts to support CCFA in finding cures!
