About the Foundation
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization whose mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. Described as a “friend who has your best interest at heart,” our passionate staff and volunteers go above and beyond to do all that they can for patients and their caregivers.
With 38 local chapters across the country, we provide both local and national education and support. We have raised and invested more than $500 million in research for cures. This funding has enabled many groundbreaking treatments, improved the quality of care, and brought hope to countless lives through programs like Take Steps.
About Take Steps
Coping with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis can be extremely challenging and isolating. Take Steps is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s largest nationwide fundraising campaign, helping to accelerate the progress of breakthrough research and to support critical patient programs. Take Steps also brings the community together in a fun, family-friendly and supportive atmosphere so patients know they are not alone.
From the moment you register for a Take Steps event, you will be part of your local inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) community. A Take Steps staff person will welcome you and want to hear your story and goals. Then, he or she will provide you with the tools and resources you need to begin fundraising to support the critical work the Foundation does to help patients. Coming together for a common goal, friends, families and co-workers form fundraising walk teams and motivate and inspire each other along the way.
On walk day, whether virtually or in person, you will experience a sense of community and belonging that only happens when a united group comes together to celebrate their success. It is a day of celebration that will leave you feeling empowered for having made a difference, inspired about the future and connected to those on a similar journey.
Take Steps has brought together more than 441,000 people and raised over $114 million to help further the Foundation's mission. The money we raise goes towards breakthrough research, public and professional education, and patient support services in communities across the nation.
