About the Foundation
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization whose mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. Described as a “friend who has your best interest at heart,” our passionate staff and volunteers go above and beyond to do all that they can for patients and their caregivers.
With 38 local chapters across the country, we provide both local and national education and support. We have raised and invested more than $350 million in research for cures. This funding has enabled many groundbreaking treatments, improved the quality of care, and brought hope to countless lives through programs like Take Steps.
About Take Steps
Take Steps is the largest community fundraising event dedicated to finding a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Funds raised through Take Steps support the mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. We at the Foundation know how isolating these diseases can be and at Take Steps, patients find community and support. Take Steps is a family-friendly fundraising event where patients, loved ones, friends and supporters empower and inspire each other to continue the fight against these devastating diseases. Patients and their families are able to connect with the greater IBD Community, helping them understand that they are never alone in this fight.
While everyone is welcome to participate in Take Steps and there is no entry fee or minimum to fundraise, Take Steps is a fundraising event. The only thing that will bring relief to patients is a cure and the only way to find a cure is to fund research. We ask that everyone who registers for Take Steps aims to raise at least $100 and become a Pacesetter. Pacesetters receive a t-shirt, pennant flag and access to special refreshments on walk day. Patients and children under 13 receive access to special refreshments regardless of their fundraising.
From the moment you register for a walk, you will be part of the Take Steps family. A Take Steps staff person will welcome you and provide you with the tools and resources you need to begin fundraising to support the critical work the Foundation does to help patients. Coming together for a common goal, friends, families and co-workers form fundraising walk teams and motivate and inspire each other along the way.
On walk day, you will experience a sense of community and belonging that only happens when a united group comes together to celebrate their success. Rain or Shine, the walk festivals are joyous events to celebrate patients that will leave you feeling empowered for having made a difference, inspired about the future and connected to those on a similar journey.
Take Steps has brought together more than 410,000 people and raised over $100 million to help further the Foundation's mission. The money we raise goes towards breakthrough research, public and professional education, and patient support services in communities across the nation.
