My name is Regan Brooks, and I have Crohn’s disease. When I was first diagnosed, I was 18 years old and under the impression that I was invincible. I found out I not only had Crohn’s, but complications along with it. I eventually had a bowel resection. Only three weeks after, I moved to Boulder to start my freshman year at the University of Colorado. I participated in Take Steps in May of 2017 as a one-year anniversary of my diagnosis. Take Steps was the first time I met people with IBD and it was an inspirational day. My friends, family, and community helped me raise over $15,000 for research into cures! I realized I am not alone in this fight. Through raising funds for support programs and research, as well as raising awareness, we can conquer Crohn’s disease as well as ulcerative colitis!
