Participating in the Charlotte Take Steps Walk held in May 2017 was the goal I used to help encourage my progress in physical therapy after being released from the hospital and PT/OT rehab that year following my six-month hospitalization. I was exhausted by the end of the walk, but it marked a milestone in my recovery process both physically and mentally.
I'm excited for the opportunity to participate this year, my five-year anniversary post surgeries. And I'm thankful to be in a much better place physically. While I still deal with some of the more invisible elements of IBD and I'm still learning to navigate this life, I'm certainly living healthier. Read more about Crohn's and Colitis below. Join me on the walk to raise awareness or consider donating financially. And thank you, THANK YOU for all of your support - past and present - on this wild ride!
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affect more individuals than you may think – millions of Americans suffer from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Take Steps is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s largest nationwide fundraising campaign, helping to accelerate the progress of breakthrough research and to support critical patient programs. Take Steps also brings the community together in a fun, family-friendly and supportive atmosphere so patients know they are not alone.
Please help me reach my personal goal of $1,000.00 for Take Steps Charlotte so that together we can support the crucial work of the Foundation. Your donation to my fundraising efforts will help the Foundation invest in cures for the future, while providing support to patients today.
Leaders in Research: The Foundation has been a leader in IBD research since their founding more than 50 years ago. They are accelerating the pace of research by breaking down traditional barriers to patients, data, funding, and collaborations, as well as catalyzing critical cutting-edge research studies and clinical trials at major medical institutions, and financing underdeveloped areas of research.
Empowering Patients and Caregivers: The Foundation serves millions of patients annually and empowers both patients and caregivers through education, support, and advocacy programs.
