Family and friends, please join me as I Takes Steps for Crohn's and Ulcerative colitis. This disease affects more individuals than you may think – millions of Americans suffer from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Take Steps is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s largest nationwide fundraising campaign, helping to accelerate the progress of breakthrough research and to support critical patient programs. Take Steps also brings the community together in a fun, family-friendly and supportive atmosphere so patients know we are not alone.
Here's my story. In 2019 I was very sick and did not know why. I was having severe exhaustion, always cold, unexplained joint pain, lightheadedness, nausea and diarrhea. After a number of test and about 4 or 5 colonoscopies I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Upon leaving the Drs office, I sat in my car, prayed and cried. I sent my little sister Stephanie Stinson a message and she immediately responded to me. Stephanie has this disease and has been an advocate for many years. After comforting me with reassurance and prayers we set a time to talk later. Father God Blessed me with her as a awesome source, to describe to me what was going on in my body as I explained my symptoms. She told me what to expect and how to handle situations when they occurred. She assured me I could and would live a normal life. She has made herself available to always be there when I needed her and she continuously checks on my progress. Through Stephanie I have met some incredible ladies that look like me that are also battling Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis. It is for this reason I have chosen to be apart of the solution by being an advocate, to increase awareness, about the disease, medical and prescription coverage to name a few.
Please join my team, The Swishy Swirlies and share my fundraising page to spread awareness in the community and raise funds to support our cause. Our goal is $2500.00. With you on my team we can do this!
