When I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis eight years ago, I was absolutely terrified and had no idea what I was up against. When I was released from the hospital, I was never told exactly what it would be like to live with this disease. I wasn’t told about the constant symptoms I would have from having an autoimmune disease. I wasn’t properly trained on how to manage my new diet and how hard it would be for me to stay hydrated. I was completely lost and felt alone because no one else I knew had this disease. When I got home, I decided to do research on my own and I found the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation!
The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation has been a leader in IBD research for ever 50 years! The Foundation serves millions of patients annually, and empowers both patients and caregivers through education, support, and advocacy programs. On their website, you can find endless amounts of information about IBD, online and in person support groups, information on insurance and financial aid, and so much more.
The Foundation has already invested more than $400 million into finding the causes, treatments, and cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. However, there is still no cure to these diseases! Please consider donating to the cause so the Crohn’s and Colitis can continue their research, as well as provide support to the millions of IBD patients.
