Our corporate partners have committed their time and money to support our mission to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. We want to extend a special thank you to those businesses and organizations who sponsor our event through monetary and in-kind donations, who provide volunteer support before, during, and after the event, and who offer matching campaigns to double or even triple the impact.

  • Honorees
  • Honorees

Our Honorees understand first-hand how difficult these diseases can be. Honored Heroes and Corporate Campaign Chairs want to support patients because no one should face the challenges and uncertainty of IBD alone. Honorees use their story to raise awareness of these diseases, raise funds in support of the Foundation’s mission, and inspire hope to those living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

I'm Jake Stinton. I'm currently 14 years old, and I am in 8th grade at Roosevelt Intermediate School in Westfield. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease going into fourth grade after missing many days of school the previous year. During third grade, I would get frequent fevers, causing me to miss a lot of school. I also wasn’t growing much, and wasn’t gaining weight either. My biggest symptom of Crohn’s disease was fatigue. There were times where I left school early due to my fatigue, and just went home to nap. Now though, I am feeling better, and I am becoming more active. I love to draw, read, or practice coding now, but I also love to play some sports too. I play ultimate frisbee, golf, and I’m even a boy scout. I am going out to Philmont, New Mexico this year, which is a 70 mile hike over the course of 2 weeks. One thing that has helped me through my recovery is my infusion treatments. I get these every five weeks, and they help my body to fight back against Crohn’s and eliminate the symptoms.Throughout my recovery, I have had the support of my family and friends, and especially the support of my mother. She has been with me at my infusions, and she has helped take care of me when I was sick. She has picked me up when I felt tired and couldn’t make it through the day, and has picked me up early for my infusions.

I am very passionate about finding cures for Crohn’s and Colitis and “taking steps” because both of these diseases have affected so many people across the globe, and causes them to miss out on a lot. There were so many times I couldn’t hang out with my friends because I felt sick from Crohn’s, and I want to find a cure to help people so they don’t miss out on as much. I also want to “take steps” to help raise money for Camp Oasis, which is a great place that helps me remember there are people out there that know what I’m going through. Overall, the walk is a great opportunity for me. The fundraising helps me remember how many people out there care about me, and are there to help support me through my battle with Crohn’s. The walk is also tons of fun, and it’s great to go and hang out with some friends and play games, or just play at the field. This is my 5th year participating in Take Steps, and it’s always great to be supported by my friends and family. It is an honor to be chosen as this year’s Honored Hero, and know that we should all be there to support each other through these difficult times. Thank you to everyone who donates to Take Steps and helps us try to find a cure.

  • Volunteer

Thousands of volunteers have helped the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) work toward our mission to find cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. Without our volunteers, we would not be able to provide a high level of support, education, research, and resources to our IBD community.
