As most of you probably know, I have had Crohn's Disease since I was 8 years old. Crohn's Disease is a disease which infects the digestive tract. Since I have been diagnosed, I have had multiple flares and symptoms, as well as numerous colonoscopies. While it has settled down over the years, others are not so lucky. Take Steps is the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation's national walk, the nation's largest event, dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. It is a casual 2-3 mile stroll to raise money for crucial research, bringing us closer to a future free from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Over 1.6 million American adults and children are affected by these digestive diseases. While many suffer in silence, Take Steps brings this community together in a fun, energetic and supportive atmosphere.
This year, I will once again be fundraising for Take Steps Liberty State Park on June 12. I am thrilled that the walk will be returning to Liberty State Park in person this year, after doing a drive thru type of an event last year due to the pandemic. Those of you not familiar with the venue, Liberty State Park is a great venue, with views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and New York City. I cannot think of a better place to do the walk than here.
While living with Crohn's Disease can be a challenge, I do not let that get in the way of my every day life. I am still able to travel and go out with friends. I recently completed my Master's Degree in IT Administration and Security from NJIT in Newark, and will be starting a new full time job in three weeks, which I am looking forward to.
Your donation will help support local patient programs, as well as important research projects. This cause is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight for cures! There will be food, music and family activities. The more money we raise, the closer we will be to making life more manageable for patients who live with these diseases every day.
Please join me or donate to my efforts to support The Foundation in finding cures! Thank you for your support!Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affect more individuals than you may think – millions of Americans suffer from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Take Steps brings the community together in a fun, family-friendly and supportive atmosphere so patients know they are not alone.
Please help me reach my personal goal of $5,000 for Take Steps Liberty State Park so that together we can support the crucial work of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. Your donation to my fundraising efforts will help the Foundation invest in cures for the future, while providing support to patients today.
