Welcome to Chris and Nick's Fundraising Page
The Cogswell brother team is competing this July in the IRONMAN 70.3 Santa Rosa in support of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. As athletes, we have both held the IRONMAN event as an apex athletic pursuit and a longtime personal goal. Due to our family’s close connection with Ulcerative Colitis, we are excited to pursue this goal together and support CCF (Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation).
We ask for your help in achieving our fundraising goal of $10,000 toward finding a cure for the 3.1 million Americans suffering from Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Of every dollar donated to the Foundation, more than $0.80 is utilized by our mission-critical programs: research, education, and support.
Chris was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in college while competing in both cross country and track. The onslaught of UC driven symptoms and endless doctors appointments immediately commenced. While ulcerative colitis continues to present considerable obstacles, Chris continues to train, race and conquer. He and Nick completed several triathlons last summer and Chris ran the Boston Marathon in early April. He is now transferring the momentum from his Boston Marathon finish into training the tri disciplines, and strives ultimately to qualify for the Ironman Championships.
Nick finds himself very fortunate to have never displayed symptoms of Crohn’s or Colitis; however, he has watched his mom and brother wrestle with UC all his life and is highly committed to helping find a cure. Nick has had fun and competitive success at running and swimming in high school and college and today trains daily across the tri sports getting ready for this upcoming Ironman.
Crohn's and Colitis is a far from glamorous condition. Speaking openly about the symptoms and hardships associated with an Irritable bowel disease creates uncomfortable situations in many households. We are partnering with CCF for this race in order to raise public awareness, show others affected by these diseases that they do not stand alone in their fight, and most importantly to contribute to the efforts of developing a cure.
A donation of any amount will be sincerely appreciated and will go a long way in furthering our cause. Together, let’s create a world where no one is confronted with Crohn’s or Ulcerative Colitis.
