Welcome to Caeleigh and Lauren's Fundraising Page
Lauren continues the fight against Ulcerative Colitis so I will continue tackling the Ironman race. In 2019, I will participate in the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon and taking another stab at Ironman at Ironman Arizona. This will be Ironman number 3 for me hopefully and will be a big undertaking! It will all be worth it because your donations will not only motivate me to the finish, but they will help us get closer to the cure. We can work together - I "trii", you make a donation, and we can find a cure! We are closer than ever to finding a cure for Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis as researchers are studying and identifying the genes associated with IBDs.
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.6 million Americans and this number continues to grow. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally and the age of diagnosis ranges from infant to adult. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine. Lauren is currently receiving Remicade IV Infusion therapy every 7 weeks and it has led to REMISSION! We are very excited that Lauren is in remission but we still need a cure. Lauren is tested at every treatment to be sure Lauren isn't developing Remicade Antibodies which means the treatment will stop working.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is: To cure and prevent Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support. As a family we rely heavily on the CCFA. The CCFA offers Camp Oasis for young people like Lauren to spend a week a camp and be just like everyone else! All the campers have an IBD and so do all the Counselors and volunteers! Lauren had a blast at Camp Oasis and we were at ease knowing that there are also GI doctors and GI nurses on site to make sure the kids all get their medications and address any issues. The CCFA also provides up to the minute information and educational materials and conferences that address medication choices, teens with IBD's, and Adults managing IBD. We have been very active in the CCFA Team Challenge Events and have become a part of the most amazing family ~ this is the true blessing ~ the patients and families we have met!
There are so many of you who have supported us every event, every year and we are grateful for your genorosity and we appreciate our new supporters for your interest and generosity!
Your tax-deductible donation will bring us closer to a cure for Crohn's and ulcerative colitis! The CCFA is a registered non-profit organization and more than .80 cents per dollar goes straight to patient support and research so EVERY DOLLAR of EVERY DONATION makes a DIFFERENCE! Please consider making a donation now, your donation can be a one-time gift or a recurring gift and don't forget to check with your employer to see if they match donations ~ your $50 donation could turn into aa $100 gift!
Lauren and I thank you for visiting our page to learn about Crohn's and ulcerative colitis and support the CCFA!
