Running for a Cure
My Personal Blog
We did it!
I'm ecstatic to say I've reached my fundraising minimum! I've had so much support from friends and family near and far. I can't say thank you enough. I'm about a month away from starting training and I feel a burst of energy from finishing fundraising. Thank you all so much!

Who loves college basketball? Next week is the beginning of March which means college basketball's big tournament! I'm going to use March Madness as my next fundraising tool. I'm hoping after the tournament ends I will be over my original goal and everything additional I raise after will just be extra for the foundation! Woohoo and go blue!

What a week!
It's been just about one week since I started fundraising and what an amazing journey already! I have heard so many stories from people who are thankful to me for doing this but I'm so thankful for you all. I could not do this without the support I've received. I am glad so many of you reached out with your own personal stories of Crohn's and colitis too. It pushes me to work even harder to go above and beyond my initial fundraising goal. I'm already 70% of the way to the initial goal and it's only February. Genuinely looking forward to continuing this journey.

I'm super excited to be halfway to my fundraising goal. Today was just an amazing day and I am so honored people have chosen to donate to this cause and support my race. I even went running in the rain today to celebrate. I would love to go above and beyond the initial goal that has been set. I am so thankful to all the donations that have come in so far. Every donation is greatly appreciated.

Only 8 months until the marathon. It seems so far away but I know the time will fly by. I've decided to launch my Facebook fundraising page this month. I'm hoping it will be a good kickstart to raising funds and awareness. The polar vortex has come and gone which means it's time to start increasing weekly mileage for the half-marathon in March. Hoping for good running weather this month!

It's officially winter here in Michigan and the temps have dropped below zero. Brrr! It also snowed about 6 inches so I'm dealing with snow and ice-covered roads. It was so difficult to run yesterday, I decided to join a gym for a month to continue my training. Even though I'm currently training for a half marathon race in March, I have my eye on October 13th!

My first donation!
I really haven't started fundraising yet, but I am so excited about getting my first donation. My parents have always been very supportive of whatever I'm taking on in life. Thank you so much to my dad for making the very first donation. I know this cause is very important to him as well since he has seen it firsthand through his son. Elated to be one step closer to my goal and making a difference for Crohn's and colitis!

Running for Michael
Since my brother Michael is over 8 years younger than me, we had a lot of differences growing up. He was starting Kindergarten when I was starting high school. Needless to say, at that point, we didn't have much in common. He is the baby of the family. Everyone has always looked out for him, whether he knows it or not. As a big sister, I feel the need to protect him, even though he's over 30 now! This is how my journey started to join Team Challenge and help raise money for Crohn's and colitis to help find a cure.

Happy New Year!
I'm getting excited to start this journey. I have just started training for the Rock CF half-marathon, which is March 24th, to kickstart my training for Chicago. So far I've been lucky with great running weather the past 3 weeks. This training will begin to get my body ready for the full marathon and also time to think and plan on how to raise money for Crohn's and colitis. I'm lucky to have two fantastic running partners by my side through it all.
