My finish line is a cure for Crohn's and colitis
Thanks for finding your way to my Team Challenge/Crohn's and Colitis Foundation fundraising page. Once again in 2019, I'll be racing with Team Challenge in support of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. This year I'll be racing with Team Challenge in four events: Ironman Santa Rosa on May 11, Ironman Canada on July 28, Ironman Chattanooga on September 29, and The North Face 50-Mile Endurance run on November 17. Your donations to CCF will motivate me to train for and finish these events - more importantly they will also help us get closer to a cure!
Why am I doing this? In October 2015, my daughter Caty was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. She was hospitalized for a week, underwent endless tests, and suffered the physical pain and mental anxiety that comes with her condition. Caty is doing much, much better 3 1/2 years later, thanks in part to support and research funded by the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. But our experience opened my family's eyes to the suffering that 3 million people in the United States endure. Crohn's is a chronic condition and there is no known cure, so Caty and others with her disease are faced with a lifetime of fighting its painful and unpredictable effects. Racing with Team Challenge is my way to support Caty and the many others who have to deal with Crohn's or colitis on a daily basis and potentially for the rest of their lives. I hope to raise awareness of these debilitating diseases and funds to continue the important research that generates new treatments - and hopefully one day a cure. Please help by making a donation today. Thank you.
About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (http://www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org/about/)
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.6 million Americans. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation: To cure and prevent Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support.
