PEDDLING FOR A CURE

I ride for Patty and all others with Crohn's and Colitis
I'm at it again to make a difference in the fight against Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. On September 10th 2022 I will participate in the Maine Lighthouse Ride in Portland Maine. This will be a big undertaking, (100 miles I hope) but it will all be worth it because your donations will not only motivate me to the finish, but they will help us get closer to the cure. Won’t you please consider a donation today?
A little about me: I'm a 61-year-old avid bicyclist, (I’ll be 62 19 days after the ride)a 25-year veteran firefighter/EMT in the town of North Smithfield, RI, a 7-year Army veteran, a father of 4, grandfather of 3 and have been married for 27 wonderful years. The reason I ride is for my beautiful wife Patty who has been dealing with Colitis for most of her life and it is an everyday struggle. She takes daily medication and a monthly infusion to help keep her disease from flaring up, the infusion takes about 1 1/2 hrs. to administer. An infusion is when she gets medication by IV at a clinic. (just for those who don’t know)
I have been riding for the Chron’s and Colitis Foundation now for several years and have done rides in Maine, Arkansas and New Mexico. Patty and I have met so many other's who suffer from this disease which also helps keep me motivated in my rides and fund raising. So, I’m asking for donations to sponsor my ride, no donation is too small. So would you please consider making a donation on my page, this is also a tax write off. If you have any questions or would like to make a check donation, please feel free to reach out to me, my email is davidmowry1@verizon.net cell# 401-226-1813 (please leave a message and I will return your call) Thank you for taking the time to read this and please share with your family and friends. I’m sure if you ask your friends or family, you may be surprised who may suffer from IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease)
About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Known collectively as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affects almost 1 in 100 people. They are painful, medically incurable diseases that attack the digestive system. Crohn's disease may attack anywhere along the digestive tract, while ulcerative colitis inflames only the large intestine (colon). Symptoms may include abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, rectal bleeding, fever, and weight loss. Many patients require numerous hospitalizations and surgery. Most people develop the diseases between the ages of 15 and 35; however the incidence is increasing in children.
The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is the largest non-profit, voluntary, health organization dedicated to finding cures for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The Foundation’s mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults who are affected by these diseases. The Foundation works to fulfill its mission by funding research; providing educational resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public; and furnishing supportive services for those afflicted with IBD.
