Welcome to My Personal Page
Most of you know I have a passion for cycling. This year I decided to put my passion to work. I will complete a 100-mile Eastern Trail Lighthouse cycling event on September 10th dedicated to raising funds and awareness for research leading to improved treatment options and a cure for Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
Over 3.1 million Americans have Crohn’s and Colitis, commonly referred to as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD; however, many more suffer in silence due to potential embarrassment and alienation. Crohn's disease and Colitis may occur in people of all ages, but it is primarily a disease of adolescents and young adults, affecting mainly those between 15 and 35.
Katie was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when she was 10 years old. After a year or so of trying different medications, she has had success with IV infusions for now almost 15 years! Unfortunately, recently the symptoms of her disease have worsened. She will be trying a new medication, but very likely will have to have surgery in the next year or so.
I wish desperately there was a cure. More research is needed so it seems to make sense to try to raise funds for this organization. Go to https://www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org for more information about the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
