During my sophomore year of college, I was diagnosed with crohn's and celiac disease. Between classes, exams, clubs, and my job as a resident assistant I didn't have time to adjust to dealing with two chronic illnesses. It was a stressful two years figuring out a new diet, going to lots of doctors appointments, and begininng an infusion treatment plan.
Over the past four years, I've been able to manage my conditions but it can be scary knowing there is no cure for either of them. Now that I've had more time to process what it means to lives with chronic illnesses, I have tried to find ways to connect to others in my community. By starting a support group for medical students with chronic illness, I've been able to reduce some of the stress of dealling with a disease while in school. I want to do more to help support research and outreach programs so I have decided to join spin4 crohn's and colitis cures.
Spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures, is an exciting and inspirational fundraising event that supports the mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation which is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
I will participate in honor of the millions of Americans, including myself, affected by these debilitating digestive diseases. While many suffer in silence, spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures will bring the community together across the country in a fun, inspiring way.
Your donation will help support local patient programs, as well as important research projects. This cause is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight for cures!
The more money we raise, the closer we will be to making life more manageable for patients who live with these diseases every day.
