Hi everyone! This fall, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and had a brief setback during which I got a sneak peek into how frustrating & life-altering this illness can be. Thankfully, I was prescribed a medication that quickly restored my good health and allows me to pursue the same dreams & goals I had for myself prior to diagnosis. Out of gratitude for my good outcome, I am hosting a charity spin ride to raise funds for research into cures and treatments for gastrointestinal disease.
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and affect millions of Americans. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine. There are no cures for these often painful and debilitating diseases.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
