For almost 25 years, I have been living with Crohn's Disease. In an effort to raise money for a cure I have bowled, walked in half marathons, planned comedy nights and young professional soirées. This year I am taking on a new challenge and participating in spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures. This event is an exciting and inspirational fundraising event that supports the mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, which is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. While many suffer in silence, spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures will bring the community together in a fun, energetic and supportive atmosphere.
I was diagnosed when I was 12, and have had flares throughout my teens and twenties. The worst flare came in 2009. When no medication on the market could successfully treat my disease, I entered into a clinical trial. Ten years later I am still on that medication. I consider myself lucky that the medicine continues to keep Crohn's Disease at bay, and has allowed me to become Mom to two healthy and gorgeous children. Yes, I still have my bad days, but overall I am able to lead a very fulfilling life! As I sprint, tap back, crunch, push-up, and dance I will ride in honor of the estimated 3 million Americans affected by these debilitating digestive diseases. I will ride for a cure so my children will never have to worry about a life with Crohn's and Colitis.
Your donation will help support local patient programs, as well as important research projects. This cause is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight for a cure!
The more money we raise, the closer we will be to making life more manageable for patients who live with these diseases every day.
I am thrilled to participate in spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures! Thank you for all your love and support!
About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and affect an estimated 3 million Americans. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine. There are no cures for these often painful and debilitating diseases.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
