The Pandas are so excited to be back at the biggest "party on a bike" in New York City with the Spin4 annual event! This is our 3nd year participating, and we are so excited to back again and fundraise for this amazing cause.
"Our team is riding for awareness for all those who live with IBD, including myself. I was diagnosed with severe Crohn's disease in February 2019 after my second ER admisison. It was at that point, I was finally put in touch with the amazing team at NYU Langone who were able to identify my disease and come up with a game plan, that was aggressive but proven to be beneficial in the long run. I went through colorectal surgery in April 2019 which removed about 1/5 of my descending colon. I was lucky that after about 8 weeks of recovery, I was cleared for my illeostomy reversal procedure, which meant I was finally able to be put back together! I've been managing my Crohn's with infusion treatments and awareness of what triggers my body: everyday is a little battle, but I'm happy to be symptom free and FINALLY have scope results as of June 2020 which shows that I'm officially in remission! I am so grateful for my support system, my fiance, family, and best friends, who have been my biggest advocates cheering me on each step of the way. I woudn't be here without them. I am also so grateful that going through all of this brought me in touch with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, where I've found even more of a community and support system with great people and resources to help all those impacted by IBD. It's so great to be back for Spin4, but also to be a part of the amazing committee that put this event together!" - Laura

About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and affect an estimated 3 million Americans. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine. There are no cures for these often painful and debilitating diseases.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
