TIn 2017 my husband, Chris, went 234 days without being able to walk because of a perfect storm of complicaitons from Crohn's Disease. The inflammation in his large intestine was so severe that it ultimately caused an infection that spread throughout his body, including his psoas muscle and bloodstream. That year Chris was hospitalized 8 times. He went septic twice. He had a surgery to remove his entire colon and now lives with a permanent ostomy bag.
We fought HARD that year to get through some very dark days. We begged doctors to figure out a plan that would get us back to normal. We relied on family and friends for EVERYTHING just to keep us moving forward. There were so many times when we didn't think life would ever get better.
I'm happy to say that now life IS better. So much better. We have a beautiful daughter named Jane and have moved back to Illinois to start a new adventure as a family. The picture above was taken when Jane was 234 days old. Funny how terrible that number is when referring to our struggles, but how beautiful it looks in our new chapter of life.
On September 22nd I'm going to be participating in my third spin4 crohn's and colitis cures event to raise money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. This is our way of giving back to the community who gave us so much in our time of need. Every dollar raised goes straight towards the Foundation's mission to cure Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis and support the adults and children living with these incurable illnesses.
Thank you in advance for helping us find cures for this horrendous diseases. Your contribution means the world to our family, as well as all of those suffering from IBD.
