It's my favorite time of year again...spin4 crohn's and colitis cures! The spin4 crohn's and colitis cures event is one that is near and dear to my heart...not only because I *love* cycling classes - cycling for 2 hours to raise money for Crohn's and Colitis - but also because Crohn's and Colitis affect 3.1 million Americans, including many of my friends and family, as well as affect me.
This year, the #partyonabike will take place on Saturday, September 22nd, at The Chop Shop in Wicker Park. We had so much fun at The Chop Shop last year, we decided to do it again! This will be my 5th year participating (5 out of 5!), and we are trying to exceed all our previous successes by going for gold and raising $5,000!
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Proctitis in 2013, which within 6 months transformed into Ulcerative Colitis in 2014 - something my doctor told me she's never seen before. After about a year of trial and error with various medications, I was finally able to get my UC under control and luckily have had it under control for the last 5 years. Coincidentally, the first Spin4 for Crohn's and Colitis Cures event occurred in 2015 and I quickly grew passionate about finding a cure for these diseases that I was struggling with, and that afflict so many people and make their daily lives not manageable.
This year, I'm asking all my friends and family, and all YOUR friends and family, to please support me and my team, The Spin Doctors, for what I know will be our most successful year yet. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by September 22nd, to help fund the research for a cure for Crohn's and Colitis. Any amount that you're willing to donate, no matter how small, will help make a positive impact on people's lives and will mean the world to me and my teammates, Jenny, Marina, and Masha.
Thank you for all your support as we #partyonabike and Spin4 Crohn's and Colitis Cures!
About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.6 million Americans. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is: To cure and prevent Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support.
