I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 15 years old. This has always been an incredibly personal journey for me, not one I choose to talk about much. Though Im currently in remission, there have been many difficult years, surgeries, medications, extended stays in hospital and doctors appointments. Fortunately, I have enjoyed the love and support of my husband, family and friends and an incredible team of surgeons and specialists in the UK and the US. For that I am truly grateful.
I have achieved so many of my life goals I wouldn't have thought possible as a young teenager when I was diagnosed, the most emotional being the arrival of my son Joshua in 2016.
This year I am celebrating turning 40. Amid the celebration I made the decision to do something which involved helping generate greater awareness and research for Crohn's and Colitis as we fight for answers to the hard questions around this disease and, one day I hope, a possible cure.
I am participating in spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures, an exciting and inspirational fundraising event that supports the mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation which is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
While many suffer in silence, spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures will bring the community together in a fun, energetic and supportive atmosphere.
Every day of health for us all is a gift. Thank you for any gift you can make to help towards a cure!

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and affect an estimated 3 million Americans. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine. There are no cures for these often painful and debilitating diseases.
